Hello from Giima!
Not to, well, toot my own horn; I consider myself an advanced, or "literate", roleplayer. I enjoy roleplays with depth in both plot and character development, and I am almost never shy of writing a healthy response. That being said, I expect my partners to at least try to reciprocate the effort. I understand the ebb and flow of "muse" and the drive for a roleplay, I really do, and if there's anything I can do or we would be able to solve together to keep the idea going I will happily oblige. This means even dropping the roleplay [mutually agreed only] or coming up with a new situation!
I am flexible to roleplaying in a public forum thread or in private messaging, but given the choice I will always prefer the latter. To put it simply: it's more efficient and more organized for me to just go to my inbox and see the roleplay instead of rummaging through the forum threads.
Don't think I'm some stay-at-home free-willy who's completely open to roleplay anytime: I'll be available when I can be, which is hopefully more than I'm expecting. I don't want to sound rude by that, but due to past experiences with insensitive people I feel the need to express that I will not be available 24/7. Outside of my hobbies, I am a sixth-year college graduate student who is double-majoring in Animal Behavior and Zoology, so that will demand most of my energy. On the other end, this makes me very patient and understanding when it comes to my roleplay partners. If you make yourself scarce for about 24 consecutive hours, I will most likely send a small daily check-in message through PM to make sure you're okay, unless you tell me beforehand "Giima, I will be offline and unavailable to roleplay from XYZ time to XYZ time." That is totally okay!
Roleplay partners must be "literate". Multiple paragraphs with sufficient detail for a hearty and satisfying response from yours truly is what I mean. I will say you should make sure your grammar is at least legible. Few errors here and there are okay, typos or such, but if I can't decipher what is it you're trying to say, that's not too great.
Roleplay partners will hopefully be able to post at least twice daily [if online]. Okay, this I'm going to be very lenient on. I merely establish this for the lazy bums who commit to a roleplay and put in one or two posts ever, leaving me in the dust. Personally I will try my best to exceed this rule wholeheartedly, but with my partners I'm really patient and lax.
Roleplay partners cannot be OOC-mute. OOC talking, or "out of character talking", is a vital key to any roleplay. In all relationships, communication is crucial, and if we can't speak to each other about our roleplay then most everything will go awry and it won't be enjoyable for anyone. Think of it as trying to work on a group project and nobody's talking to each other as to how something will be made or what should happen..
Roleplay partners should be okay with playing multiple characters. Roleplays should be kept interesting, right? The inclusion of multiple characters per partner and the different combinations of events that could chain with having more than one character a pop increases the life of said interest! Please, do yourself and all of us a favor by being open to having more than one character.
Like all roleplayers, I have preferred interests in terms of genre. I have a couple worlds created for writing personal novellas and for the sake of roleplaying, some more developed and fleshed out than others, but my skills are not limited to that. In terms of genre, I consider myself to be a fantasy and unrealistic buff, because I get enough of reality every day! That doesn't mean I can't handle realistic or slice-of-life roleplays.
Fandom: I will not hesitate to declare that I am a huge fan of video game franchises such as Pokémon, Nintendogs, and Fossil Fighters, however the idea of playing a canon character doesn't strike my fancy. Original characters would be preferred, with canon characters not "belonging" to any of us but rather acting more as "fillers" or "NPCs". If you have any fandom you'd like to express, I am totally open to hearing about it!
Fiction [all types]: This is my broadest genre of coverage, and my only true objections to this entry would be cyberpunk/steampunk subgenres, as well as space exploration/"Star Trek-like" sci-fi. Other than that, I am very flexible and open for any idea proposals.
Realistic: The best I can do with realistic roleplays is anything that will do with animals [ie: horse ranch, animal sanctuary, etc]. As you might remember earlier in the post, animals are kind of my forté as a double-major studying them.
Fantasy: Now, I don't often roleplay things along the lines of Dungeons and Dragons, but anything more lax than the immense detail surrounding that behemoth of a concept would be just fine. You see, I like the idea of it in a simpler terminology, but just delving into something so overtly complicated would be a baptism by fire.
Unrealistic: I figured this is where I'd be putting any sort of roleplay where our characters were to be some sort of animal, or even supernatural-themed roleplays. Personally, I get tired of being human, so these are a nice refresher!
Oh my goodness, thank you for getting this far. That's all I have to say for now, and I hope to receive replies sooner than later! Feel free to reply to the thread or contact me personally in PM.
From Giima with love!
