Erik and Ava followed the three other girls quietly, running along behind them. Ava darted around, trying to sniff things as she followed them, but Erik stayed focused on the noises they left behind. He could hear sirens just as they were getting out of ear shot. They would definitely have to move.
Arriving at the mansion, Erik paused outside, wondering if he should try to keep Ava outside and also betting that he would not be able to, anyways. With a sigh, he glanced at Ava and then followed the rest inside.
“My name is Erik,” he introduced when introductions were made. “And this is Ava,” he said as he gestured to his large canine-wife who was sniffing along the walls as they walked in.
He listened quietly, looking around the place and wondering why all of these people lived in such a decrepit looking place. At the mention of food, Erik’s stomach tightened again, reminding him, once again, that he could smell blood and was very thirsty. Ava also perked her head up and tilted it, wagging her tail.
“You are not eating,” Erik told her. “Go outside and hunt down a deer if you are hungry.” He tried to sound annoyed at Ava, but a smile betrayed him.
